The Folds of Honor has awarded nearly 73,000 life-changing scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled military service members and first responders since 2007. That is $340 million awarded in scholarships to those that have given so much.

THE NEED IS GREAT.

Nearly 7,700 deserving individuals did not go fully funded due to limited resources.

WE CAN CHANGE THAT.

Beginning in 2026, The Wingman Scramble will be taking flight for a select few clubs. Clubs will be invited to participate in the local inaugural event with the focus on growing nationally to include all PGA Professionals.

The Most Popular Pro-Am Format Has Returned And You Can Play Your Most Heroic Round With Your PGA Professional

The Mission

Assembling patriots in appreciation for U.S. military service members and First Responders. On this we agree: Those who protect our freedom and our families deserve our unwavering support.

On The Horizon

In 2026, the pilot test program for The Wingman Scramble will be the start of a possible Folds of Honor national expansion to include all PGA Sections and PGA Professionals. The event is in the spirit of the past nationally recognized Buick Scramble, which grew to over 100,000 participants every year and was the largest amateur tournament in the world. Due to sponsorship issues and the downturn in the automobile industry at that time, the last Buick Scramble was played in 2005. We hope you will be one of the first participants in the new era.

Forming Teams

Each player must have an established USGA index that can be verified by a PGA Professional.

Local Level

At the local club event, a team consists of three (3) amateur players, whose combined total handicap is a minimum of +1 and a max of +8. Team handicaps are comprised of using USGA index (min rounds would apply).  Based on USGA index each player would be assigned a handicap value using the Wingman Handicap Chart at the time of local event.  Teams may only have one player with a negative value on the team.

Finals

All advancing teams will be joined by their respective host PGA Professionals to complete the foursome. Individual index at the time of local event will be used for the entire event.

Tournament Format

Local Club Level - Three-person scramble using four (4) tee shot minimum.  Each team will compete in two divisions simultaneously comprising of low net and low gross.  If less than twenty (20) teams, the event will be a low net competition. For example, the rules would state that if ten (10) teams participate, the event winner will be a low net. If twenty (20+) or more teams participate, the event will have two winners, a low net and a low gross team moving on to the Finals.

Finals Level – Four person scramble (added local PGA Professional) using three tee shot minimum. Each team will compete in two divisions simultaneously comprising of low net and low gross.  Final Level date is Monday, October 12, 2026, at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Tees - Regular <60, Senior (60+) and Ladies using PGA/USGA %.

Handicap - Team handicaps are comprised of using USGA index (min rounds would apply).  Based on USGA index each player would be assigned a handicap value using the Wingman Handicap Chart at the time of local event.  Teams may only have one player with a negative value on the team. The team handicap must be at least +1 and max of +8.  Individual index at the time of the local event will be used and team handicap at Finals with the PGA Professional added:

Team Handicap at Local: 1 - 2 will be a 1 at Finals

Team Handicap at Local: 3 - 4 will be a 2 at Finals

Team Handicap at Local: 5 - 6 will be a 3 at Finals

Team Handicap at Local: 7 - 8 will be a 4 at Finals

Participation Levels

The minimum teams required to send one team to the finals is ten (10). If ten to nineteen teams participate, the local professional will designate the division that will represent the club at the Finals before play.

If the local host club has participation of twenty (20+) or more teams, the club is eligible to send the winner of each division (one low net and one low gross team).

Each PGA Professional representing the invited facility is eligible to host a local event.  PGA Professional would join the qualifying team(s) to complete the foursome at the Finals.

Closed/Invitation/Open Event

In 2026, each invited club may choose to have one of three event formats. A closed event, which is available to members of the club only; an open event, available to the general public; or an invitational event, available only to members and invited guests. Everyone particpating in the local event must have an approved USGA index that can be verified by a PGA Professional.

Participants may attempt to qualify for the finals at more than one invited facility, but, if a player qualifies, they may not participate in another local event.

The Finals

In 2026, the finals will be played at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan, on Monday, October 12th. Each invited club may send one or two teams in accordance with the participation level. The Finals will have a limited field size of the first thirty (30) teams entered, so having a local event as early as possible will be important.

Every qualifying team will play with their respective host PGA Professionals to complete the foursome. The Finals will be a typical event at American Dunes Golf Club to include fantastic swag, unique awards to the winning teams, great food, and a one-of-a-kind golf experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I enter my club?

We will be sending invitations to selected PGA Professionals by mail on or before May 17th. Our focus for the first event is to test the interest of the club, the PGA Professional, and the players at their respective facilities with the focus on expanding nationally. With expansion, every PGA Professional will have an opportunity to field a team.

What is the cost?

Your club professional will be establishing the local pricing for the qualifying event at your club. Qualifying teams will pay $500 for the Final Level to include the American Dunes Golf Club experience, tee gifts, food, prizes and awards. All proceeds will be donated to the Folds of Honor to help fill the unmet need for scholarship funding and all contestants will receive a charitable tax donation receipt for the majority of the entry fee.

Is the Final Level to be played at American Dunes Golf Club?

Yes, all qualified teams will be playing Monday, October 12, 2026, at American Dunes Golf Club. Practice rounds will be arranged near the event date.

We have a mixed team of male and female golfers, is that OK?

Absolutely! As long as all players have a qualified USGA index. We will have course yardage for ladies and seniors using the PGA/USGA %.

How many players must a local club (course) have to send a team to the Finals at American Dunes?

At the local level, there must be at least 10 teams (30 players) to send one team to the finals. If there are 20 teams (60 players) that facility can send two teams.

How does the handicap system work for the tournament?

All players must have an accepted USGA handicap index and can be verified by a PGA Professional. That index must be established at least ten (10) days before the local qualifying event. Using The Wingman Handicap Chart (above), teams (three players) may only have one player with a negative value on the team. The team handicap must be at least +1 and max of +8.  Individual index at the time of the local qualifying event will be used and team handicap cut by 50% at Final Level (see Handicap section above).

Can guests play at a local qualifying site?

Yes, if the PGA Professional is allowing guests and the guest has an accepted USGA handicap index and can be verified by a PGA Professional.

What if a player has a handicap change during the tournament?

Handicaps that are in effect ten (10) days prior to their local qualifying event remain in effect throughout the tournament.
